Benefits
Military vehicles, equipment and weapon platforms need ongoing service and support. Trained maintenance personnel are not always readily available, meaning combat soldiers need to be able to maintain their vehicles quickly and effectively on their own, in the field, even though they are not fully trained on service procedures.
To meet this need, Enigma’s Integrated Maintenance/Logistics solution (E-IML) goes beyond a typical interactive electronic technical manual (IETM). It delivers a Web-based dynamic product encyclopedia of maintenance and repair information to help soldiers keep combat vehicles and weapon systems operating at peak performance. It’s an integrated maintenance and logistics application, allowing more maintenance to be performed in the field.
Tying a parts catalog into the E-IML Solution provides mechanics with complete and accurate parts procurement. Soldiers are provided easy "point-and-click" parts ordering, consistent with DoD specifications, within the IETM, removing any number of human errors and drastically reducing costs associated with misordered parts, inventory and logistics.
With more service and maintenance performed in the field, the military can reduce its logistics footprint and the instances of vehicles and equipment taken out of action and returned to the depot for repair.
Capturing data in the field, such as miles driven or configuration changes, and delivering that information to equipment inspection and maintenance centers improves preventative maintenance planning.
E-IML will also report fault codes back to program offices for prognostic analysis and suggested preventative maintenance and services that can potentially extend the life of each vehicle and system.
- Reduces the logistics footprint of platforms and weapons systems
- Automates paper-based maintenance processes
- Links the platform/mechanic to the supply chain (real-time access to relevant weapon systems information)
- Reduces the total lifecycle cost of the platform
- Reduces incorrect part orders
- Provides increased readiness without increasing headcount
