Enigma-SAP for Transportation MRO
For aircraft and rail maintenance, Enigma and SAP have joined forces with HCL AXON to extend the reach of SAP out to maintenance depots, flight lines and hangars. The integration of Enigma InService MRO with SAP and HCL Axon’s iMRO product automates and accelerates the response to scheduled, unscheduled and non-routine maintenance events, and brings technical content to the mechanic, enabling more efficient and consistent maintenance. This is an end-to-end solution for maintenance planning and execution that links the mechanic into the ERP system.
SAP and iMRO simplify maintenance and demand forecasting, maintenance planning and scheduling, configuration control and management, material management and maintenance operations. Enigma InService MRO further improves these activities by providing service and parts information (for capital equipment like aircraft, engines, locomotives and various components); revision and reconciliation management (for technical content); job card (task card) generation; and parts selection and ordering.
The out-of-the-box integration covers five key touch points:
- Enigma extracts critical information from technical content and populates/updates the MRO system, including the Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), master parts list (MPL) and maintenance planning document (MPD) data.
- Enigma automatically displays relevant maintenance content while working in SAP.
- SAP automatically searches technical content in Enigma.
- Parts identified and selected in Enigma create a material "demand" in SAP.
- Enigma generates job cards, on demand, that combine work assignment information from the SAP work order with detailed graphics and documentation from Enigma.

In addition, Enigma can be readily integrated to a variety of SAP Industry solutions to provide parts and service information wherever it is needed. These integrations enable product support information such as maintenance manuals, technical bulletins and electronic parts catalogs to be launched directly from the SAP environment. SAP transactional processes, such as spare parts ordering, can also be automatically initiated from within the Enigma service and parts information.
