Simplifying Support of Complex Equipment with Parts and Service Information Solutions

InService Job Card Generator

A job card (or task card) is a document that provides a technician with all the information needed to complete a service procedure. Maintenance departments and third-party MRO shops rely on job cards as primary documents for reference, control and auditing purposes. Job cards also provide the means of recording that a procedure has been completed properly. (Job cards are a critically important document for highly-regulated industries like aviation.) Depending on the complexity of the equipment being serviced, job cards can run into the hundreds or thousands of pages, with information drawn from multiple data sources.

For equipment operators and MRO shops, the generation of job cards is usually a manual task that involves searching for data in multiple systems, sorting the information, then copying and pasting it into the proper job card format. This process is both time-consuming and error-prone, which slows down the maintenance and repair of equipment like aircraft and engines.

What Is the InService Job Card Generator?

InService Job Card Generator (JCG) is a web-based application that automates the creation of effectivity-based (serial number/ tail number-specific) job cards required for performing heavy, shop and line maintenance. The InService JCG software automates the process of generating job cards to dramatically reduce the time to produce these complex documents; in many cases a job card that would ordinarily take months to prepare can be produced in minutes by implementing InService JCG. InService JCG improves the productivity of maintenance personnel, which in turn leads to increased equipment availability and improved regulatory compliance.

The Enigma InService Job Card Generator combines data from a maintenance and engineering system, or enterprise asset management (EAM) system, with the OEM content to produce a job card on-the-fly—even for unscheduled maintenance. Enigma’s job card software pulls together resource, material and tooling data from a maintenance planning system and merges it with procedural, parts and service bulletin data from a central content management system (CMS). The information is analyzed and filtered to ensure it matches the specific serial number (tail number) that is being serviced and is then printed or sent electronically to the appropriate technician. As maintenance tasks are completed the job card can be used to record details of service activity and inspection, with relevant information routed back into the maintenance management system for compliance, audit and management purposes.

The job card can be printed on paper or used electronically, where it can be integrated with business workflows to support task sign-offs and the creation of an audit trail to comply with safety regulations. Digital signatures are available as an option.
