Product Manager, Enigma Public

As a Product Manager for Enigma Public, you will be reenvisioning Enigma’s public mission and driving how the company can best connect people to data reflecting the world around them.

About You

You sincerely believe in data’s potential for good and are particularly excited about public data. You’re interested in a position representing varied challenges, from dreaming up public data exploration projects (see Enigma’s previous Labs projects), to working with the Public engineering team to  execute on new features for public.enigma.com, to finding new ways to spread the word about public data. You have prior experience in product, though the product(s) may have been very different from Enigma Public. You’re creative in dreaming up applications for data and have a sense of which features or data visualization projects might be most impactful. You’re a clear communicator, both in writing and speaking. You will be engaging with a wide range of actors within the company and outside of it: engineering, marketing and design teams within Enigma as well as government agencies publishing datasets, potential partners in the civic tech ecosystem.

  • Prior experience in a PM position

  • Creative mindset as to the power and possibilities of public data
  • Ability to keep a project moving apace
  • Aptitude for engaging with data scientists, data journalists and researchers

The Role

Enigma Public is a platform through which Enigma provides free, non-commercial access to public data to all, serving a community of data science students, journalists, data enthusiasts and more. More broadly, it is Enigma’s commitment to the mission of enabling people to discover data that reflects the world around them. This role will define the roadmap for Enigma Public and work closely with the Enigma Public engineering team to stay aligned and on track.  The opportunities for the product’s impact are many; the role will define which should be prioritized, pulling from user research executed alongside the design team, analysis of user data, and an understanding of the space. The role additionally has the possibility to be involved in developing partnerships with non-profits, government agencies and media outlets to work on large-scale data storytelling projects, such as the prior Enigma Labs. The role would sit within Enigma’s Product team.  We hope that you are excited to help do good with public data.
